Director producer Edward Zwick has come up with a masterpiece called the Blood Diamond. This is a mind boggling and adrenaline pumping movie which was released on 8th December 2006. A further release of Edward Zwick is Defiance which has high expectations on its shoulders and is proposed to be released by the end of 2008.
Edward Zwick was born in Chicago, Illinois on 8th October 1952. Edward Zwick is well known for directing and producing films that are larger than life. This movie revolves around Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) and the Diamond council which have been getting diamonds from Sierra Leone illegally. Solomon Vandy is a fisherman who has been captured by the rebels in Sierra Leone and sent to their mining camps to dig for diamonds. And it so happens that, Solomon Vandy finds a very large rough diamond of priceless value. Danny Archer who on the other hand is a mercenary sent by Colonel Coetzee (Arnold Vosloo) to transport diamonds from Sierra Leone to him. Danny Archer and Solomon Vandy have a coincidental meeting in when they are taken to prison. Later they team up to find the diamond and prove the diamond council guilty. The movie is two and a half hours of continuous thrills. The movie was nominated for 5 Oscars. The movie has received thumbs up for most of the critics. The background scores for this movie is another success to this movie. Charles Leavitt who has been responsible for the story and screenplay has been a major backbone for the success of the movie.
The movie has given equal importance for action, drama and sentiment. Blood Diamond is a must watch movie. And this movie is going to have a very high impact on the viewers to make change.
