As we approach the start of Big Brother 9 many people are starting to ask if it has past its sell by date. While it has to be said that the show was a real eye opener and kept millions of people glued to their sets for hours on end, what can we see in Big Brother 9 that we have not seen already?

We have seen aggression, we have seen love, we have seen fun and we have seen racism – all aspects of human life and not always good to watch. How else can Channel 4 shock us? What can they put the contestants through to make Big Brother 9 special? Are we really bothered?

While many people thought that Big Brother 8 was the end of the road for the series, especially when the Big Brother Celebrity show was cancelled last year, it is back with vengeance and no doubt we will be spoon fed gossip, rumour and shock tactics galore. Big Brother 9 will be something of a watershed for the whole format because if this one fails or there is anymore serious scandal in the house the event will be finished for good. Many are saying that Channel 4 are very brave to bring the format back to the main screen, and while there is a risk on their behalf, that is what Channel 4 has been about from the very early days.

As a side note who do you remember from the 8 series which have gone before? Do you remember Craig Phillips, Brian Dowling, Kate Lawler, Cameron Stout, Nadia Almada, Anthony Hutton, Pete Bennett or Brian Belo? Those who followed the program may remember that they are the past winners of the main show, and while some have actually carved out a career for themselves, many have just disappeared into the night, never to be seen again!

How will this year’s winner do? Will they be remembered for the right reasons?
