Take a look at the TV schedules for any day of the year and you are guaranteed to see a number of crime shows shouting back at you. While the UK has its fair share of detective shows with the likes of :-
The Bill
The Fixer
Taggart
A Touch Of Frost
to name but a few, the US has even more with :-
CSI : Crime Scene Investigation
CSI : Miami
CSI : NY
Law and Order
Intelligence
some of the more prominent ones.
The above are just a fraction of the shows which are currently on TV at the moment, although let us not forget the likes of Juliet Bravo, The Hill Street Blues, CHIPS and last but not least Starsky and Hutch.
Cops and robbers, good versus evil have been ever present on the TV from day one, with each of us more than keen to see what happens in what we believe are real life thrillers. So who does it the best?
The US crime programs tend to be more headline hitting, more controversial while the UK cops and robbers programs tend to have a more structured approach – report a crime, visit the suspects and catch them…..well not quite that easy!
While a lot of us take the crime programs on TV very much for granted, it takes a lot of time, money and effort to make these programs as life like as they are. Many of the actors involved will actually spend time on the beat and time watching a real life investigation - it is not as easy as it looks!
Crime has paid for many actors from the early days of Starsky and Hutch to the likes of The Bill with many becoming household names in the UK. So which program is your favourite?
