got milk

If you ever wondered where the “Got milk?” phrase originated from, look no further, this legendary commercial gave birth to that so over used phrase on the Internet.

This ad was first published in 1993, and it starred Sean Whalen as a history nerd having a peaceful dinner, making himself a big fat peanut butter sandwich while listening to classical music radio, and just as he takes a big fat bite of his peanut masterpiece a radio trivia interrupts with the question Sean knows the answer to - “Who shot Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel?”, and his phone rings. The history nerd knows who killed him, and trivia people called him but…

Peanut butter got him mumbling and he’s got no milk to wash it down and his time is up, no money for him. “Got milk?” phrase ends this ad, setting up a Internet avalanche we all know - all those “Got whatever” things were inspired by this one.
