Nike really outdid themselves with this one, even if it is an obvious Matrix rip-off, it is still presented so well (and doesn’t star Keanu Reeves) that all of the plagiarism is ignored. The commercial starts some of the most popular football players of that time breaking into a high security tech fortress to steal a ball, but not any ball, but special Nike ball. “It’s rounder” as one of the thieves notice. Well s*** hits the fans pretty soon the moment they set their hands on the ball, an army of ninja/samurai thingies starts whooping every body’s ass, but our heroes still manage to get out of the mess, even if barely. This ad was banned in the commercial, because it implies death of the main ninja robot and death scenes are forbidden in USA (insert sarcastic laughter here). Still it is one of the top three Nike commercials of all times so it needs to be mentioned.
