“Scrubs” created by Bill Lawrence is an award winning comedy/drama series running on NBC since 2001. It has a runtime of 24 minutes excluding commercials and has been running for 8 seasons as of September 2008. The series was on a brief hiatus between late 2007 till April 2008 because of the writers’ strike which caused a lot of panic and chaos with the production of Hollywood movies and sitcoms costing the movie industry millions of dollars.
The hit TV show Scrubs runs on a plot revolving around the sacred heart hospital, where interns work and learn from the guidance of actual doctors. The entire show is viewed through the eyes of an intern, where the intern learns about friendship, love and life itself. The cast involves Zach Braff playing John ‘J.D.’ Dorian who starts as an intern in the hospital and as the series progresses, so does he, to the level of an attending physician. The cast also has Sarah Chalke playing Elliot Reid, the only female doctor in her family and one who has a point to prove and whose relationship with J.D often fluctuates between romance and friendship, Donald Faison who plays Christopher Turk, who is J.D ‘s best friend and a surgical physician and is involved in a relationship with Judy Reyes’ character, the opinionated head Nurse, Carla Espinosa. There is also John C. McGinley playing Dr. Percival Cox, J.D’s mentor and the one who continuously criticizes and finds fault with J.D’s work. The only non medical lead in Scrubs is played by Neil Flynn, whose character, the Janitor, is perceived to be in a close yet antagonistic relationship with J.D, and keeps pulling pranks on him.
Scrubs has won an Emmy award and a Peabody award and has also been Golden Globe nominated thrice, for its lead Zach Braff. The series is scheduled to make a return for the 2008-2009 season.
