“Still Standing”, the American Sitcom created by Diane Burroughs and Joey Gutierrez is a purely comedic take on parenting in a middle-class American home. The series was first aired on CBS in 2002 and led to four seasons comprising of 88 episodes in all, until it ended in 2006. But even now the episodes from Still Standing are being aired due to syndication rights to the show being picked up by Lifetime Television.
The plot of this sitcom revolves around a family from Chicago, comprising of parents, Mark Addy and Jami Gertz playing the lead. Mark Addy plays the character Bill Miller and Jami plays Judy Miller who in their high school days were dating one another and have never shed their high school mentality, still feeling they are young and exuberant, thereby leading to several misunderstandings within the family, mostly related to their kids. Bill and Judy have three kids, Brian Hops, Lauren Barley and Tina Kathleen Miller. Brian is the eldest and the most studious of the lot. He is also their only son and is often involved with issues regarding girls from his school and his questionable sexual orientation. He takes cheerleading classes as a means to meeting new girls and is constantly referred to as a nerd and a geek by his own parents. Lauren is the opposite of Brian; she is highly popular in school and always finds ways to transgress the rules. Her parents are not especially proud of her and feel her brother is much smarter. The third and youngest child of the Millers is Tina, who has uncanny ways to get things done although her parents take her to be innocent.
Still Standing has grabbed three awards during its four seasons of play and has also had several guest stars, although not critically appreciated, it has its funny moments that keep the show alive.
