Band Slam follows the story of Will Burton, a true rocker who is very introverted and keeps to himself. After his mother lands a new job, Will is forced to move with her to New Jersey, where he will be starting his junior year at an all new high school. He hooks up at the school with a guy named Sam, who is also an outsider and rock fanatic that doesn’t have too many friends. The plot twist occurs when the most popular girl in the school, Charlotte, calls on them to help her assembly a band that will compete in the Bandslam battle of the bands competition at the school.

The group expected to win is led by Charlotte’s ex-boyfriend Ben, who has a band called Glory Dogs that are a complete rip off of Bruce Springsteen and his band. Will finds out what he is meant to do with his life through this experience of assembling a band and competing in the rock contest.
