ER is one of the best received television shows that have ever been shown on the television. It was written by Michael Crichton and was on for 15 full seasons, during which it was nominated 123 times for the prestigious Emmy Awards, which is a record, and it won 22 times. The show itself features the drama that goes on in a hospital, most often in the emergency room of a fictional Chicago County general Hospital. The medical drama series followed the staff members of the hospital in their professional and private lives and covered their struggles with the work related stress in the ER.

The show displayed the leading roles as they tried to find a balance between their lives inside and outside the hospital. The original cast was: Anthony Edwards as Dr. Mark Greene, George Clooney as Dr. Doug Ross, Sherry Stringfield as Dr. Susan Lewis, Noah Wyle as John Carter and Eriq La Salle as Dr. Peter Benton. The show had other cast members and frequent guest stars and recurring characters which were well know to the public.
