The Office is an American TV series that was developed by Greg Daniels. It is an adaptation of the old BBC series of everyday lives of the people who are employed in Scranton, Pennsylvania in a fictional company called Dunder Mifflin. The series feature a satirical view of the life of the employees and it is filmed in such a way that it resembles a documentary, because it is filmed with a hand held camera and the entire setup of the series is created that it looks like a real documentary – the employees have the confessionals where they are one on one with the camera and they talk about their everyday lives.

The Office has an ensemble cast which is mostly based on the roles from the original BBC series. The shows cast frequently improvised some of the lines, thus exploiting the benefit of the false documentary setting, often with hilarious results. The series did not get much critical acclaim at first, but after the first season things started to look better as some critics showed general affection toward the show.
