Through the short movie teaser we get to see the rough beginnings as well as the rise of the all-girls rock band from the 70s, The Runaways. The movie is a biopic piece portraying their hardships and successes on their path to stardom and fame. In 1975 the rock scene of the music business was dominated by men and was thought to contain no place for young wannabe rocker girls. Through their determination and inner belief in themselves as well as the power of their music they emerge on to the rock scene, tearing it apart and paving the way for future generations of all female rock bands. The story follows the two main characters, and members of the band The Runaways Joan Jett (Kristen Stewart) and Cherrie Curie (Dakota Fanning). The third member of the band, their bass player is a fictional character named Robin (Alia Shawkat) and is meant to replace the real life bassist of The Runaways Jackie Fox, who due to legal issues could not be portrayed in the movie.
